A LITTLE OF HISTORY.

It seems that one becomes opportune and advisable to add something of history for which is comprehensible like it is possible that we today are with so important discovery for history of art in general and of G. Braque in individual.

The pictures dated in 4 from August =1899= were ordered by one lady ancestor of the proprietor, this lady ordered two pictures (to Seville very probably) of apparent religious subject but that they are dedicated to his husband and his son, died in an epidemic. They were made in Spain, where one assumes that they adorned the walls of a familiar home during many years; in order to happen to occupy a place in a dark attic of where they were rescued by the descendants at the present time.

It was done by a young Braque, 8 years before of cubism. At the summer of year that finalized its studies of beautiful arts in l'Havre; at the age of 17 years. And months before being transferred to Paris to begin like painter apprentice decorator.

It does not have to be strange to us, he is 7 months younger than Picasso and of this we know pictures from when he was 14 years old.

A couple of questions about Georges Braques

Would Georges Braques ever have signed his name as B Georges? Would he have painted a later version of Tom Roberts' painting of Smike Streeton?

One two many 's's.

The signature (look at http://georges-braque.objectis.net/signature-legend-back-view) is G Bra.
The two paintings, Diego and Ben corresponds to a husband (father) and a young child lost by a young woman (mother) making them a tribute.
